Flinders Park Restaurant

Started by the Lawn Tennis Association of Australia, the Australian Open was first in 1950 at the Warehousman's Cricket Ground in St.Kilda Road, Melbourne. The tournament site was rotated between Melbourne,Sydney,Brisbane, and Adelaide until 1972 , when the Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club in Melbourne was selected to be the lone host site. In 1988, the tournament moved to FLINDERS PARK (renamed Melbourne Park in 1996 ) and switched surface from grass to hard courts . The Australian Open is the first Grand Slam Tours of the year.
